I was in the car, at Marrakech. I was next to the driver. We were running in small streets, between people and boxes. At a corner of the street I felt his look, trying to run away. Good luck to him.

This is a very emotional picture. It inpires you to write a story about the mother's affection and love for the child, the sadness in her eyes, the child's look is indeed saying a million words.

Someone should notice the lock on the door as a suggestion this woman is forced to have this life!

How difficult it is to conceive the instantaneous sentiment and make it words!

In the photograph I can see two pairs, that although are absolutely well-matched in the photograph itself, there is a great opposition between them.

The first pair is the door and the lock. Behind an outside locked door is an empty house, that is to say a dead house. The other pair is the mother and her son. The mother's sacredness is emphasized by her white dress and the child's unconcern by the blanket with square forms. The eyes of the unsuspecting "Jesus" and the Mother's glance that gazes with determination the path of life are livening up the photograph. Especially the Mother's glance does not let us feel pity or acquiescence, but only admiration and hope.

Thus, this photograph, having the power of pictures not being "set up", may be considered as an anthem to life or, better, as a comment concerning the freedom of people.

As a conclusion, no lock can imprison life, no matter how big and heavy it is! And again: Our locks behind us reminds us how many great things we still have to live, how many beautiful things are in front of us!

Excellent technique, nice lighting, in general an amazing photo that can be interpreted in many ways.

Ioannis:11:20 on 21/08/2008
It's strongest point sources from its originality - a 100% pure view of the everyday life. To me it depicts the vulnerabilty and despair that is partly hidden in such countries.
